  • RH - mother: injected with anti–Rh antibodies late pregnancy and again after Rh–positive baby. \She is passively immunized (artificially) to eliminate any fetal Rh–bearing red blood cells that cross the placenta before her own immune system responds to them and generates immunological memory that would endanger future Rh–positive babies.
  • Jaundice: RBC heme in hemoglobin converted to bilirubin in spleen and liver. The bilirubin is processed by liver, enters bile (secreted by hepatocytes from the liver, stored in gallbladder, discharged into duodenum) excreted through feces.
